All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easygoing weakness of Catholics. – Pope Saint Pius X

At one point in the world, we had nations led by Kings. Kings that were divinely appointed and ruled with the understanding that their actions would follow them to heaven. These Kings feared not doing just and not leading with guidance from God. We had great Kings like St. Louis IX, the king of France who cared deeply for the poor, his nation, and the conversion of sinners so much so that he gave his life to protecting Christendom. We know of St. Louis’s great Christian heart by reading the letter he left his son on how to be a just King. We also had more recent and great Catholic leaders like Gabriel Garcia Moreno that not only led Ecuador with a just mind but he consecrated the Nation to the Scared Hearts of the blessed Virgin and our Lord Jesus Christ. A true death sentence for a leader of his time as we’ll see because he lived during a time of extreme intolerance towards clericalism, monarchism, and traditionalism.
In Moreno’s Ecuador, the nation prospered because he led with divine guidance, not the will to make money or make war but the desire to give his people the gift of faith in the one true church. In his 1862 Concordat, he made great strides including among other things that all education would be run by the Church and that the bishops would be able to ban any books that went against the teachings of the Church. In addition to the advances in education and science, he was noted for economically and agriculturally advancing the country, as well as for his staunch opposition to corruption, even giving his own salary to charity. He also stated an age-old common-sense rule that only those approved by the Bishop could speak on matters of theology or Religious doctrine. He was the only ruler in the world to protest the Pope’s loss of the Papal States, and two years later had the legislature consecrate Ecuador to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. All these things seem pretty straight forward and agreeable to the Catholic population yet he was killed by Ecuador’s Liberal Freemasons (Plotted by Freemason Germans) which was sponsored by the then growing Masonic power of the United States as it shifted its tentacles throughout Latin America.
More contemporary leaders like Francisco Franco in Spain followed along similar lines and ruled from the ideals of the Falange. Echoing the ideas of Jose Antonino Primo de Rivera he pushed for a nation backed with a Catholic form of government some would call neo-integralism. He fought the communists and the nation incorporated the Catholic meaning of glorious tradition. Yet today in Spain you can be jailed for saluting Gen. Franco in public and he is associated with a warped understanding of what the political thought called fascism actually is. The last wave of any ideals of true conservatism from a Catholic leader could be perceived as early as the latter part of the last century with paleo-conservative and traditional Catholic American politician Patrick “Pat” Buchanan. Patrick Buchanan was the senior advisor to three Presidents, a two-time candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, and was the presidential nominee of the Reform Party in 2000. He was one of the last politicians in recent American political history to espouse many Catholic social teachings as actual policy. Unfortunately for Pat, the wave of neo-conservativism won out within the Republican party with its hawkish foreign policy. It has all but paved the way for the American oligarchs’ path to globalism and a deeper swim into the void of modernism.
The Catholic third way
The idea of Catholic third way in politics has always been successful when implemented. It may be hard to fathom through the modern political lense, but that’s because our political paradigm and Overton window are fixated on post-enlightenment pre-suppositions on how political theories must be seen and understood. The modern American Right vs Left narrative easily collapses under easy critique. However, the vacuum is still easily filled with more post-enlightenment political thoughts and materialistic utopian sirens like Marxism, Communism, Libertarian, & Totalitarianism under a secular government. A time when the true Catholic third way was implemented was during the Middle Ages. A time when the Catholic church was the sole authority on theological and moral absolutes. A time where the Catholic church gave the authority to leaders, kept them in check and the Church’s holy monks transformed Europe making it ripe for the Rennaissance to come. Homelessness that we are so often accustomed to in the rich elite economic zones called cities was nearly non-existent. Every so-called peasant had a home and some land to grow crops under the feudalist system. Sure, some of the crops went to the King yet the lion’s share always went to the family. And their diet certainly was all-natural, much different than the toxic food the masses consume today. The idea of fasting was also seen as something holy and it was a welcomed suffering for the intent of strengthing the person’s spiritual vitality.
We can see throughout the history of Christendom that Catholic leaders were heading up successful happy nations full of life and production. People were producers and not just consumers as we have become today. Without the guidance of the Church, a nation is just made up of secular laws and businesses. The modern leaders are led by what is in the best interest of money and not the people. We can see what becomes of nations without any guidance from the Church by looking at the United States.
America is directionless under liberalism
America, being the most secular of nations and the exporter of liberal democratic ideals has become the most materialistic and consumerist nation in the history of humanity. We as a nation have been at war nonstop since the early 20th century and for over one hundred years, we continue the practice of unjust warring. America takes no heed to St Augustine’s Just War theory because of the lobbying power of the Industrial Military Complex and the entangling foreign policies of neo-conservatives. Among other severe things that come from a nation without the sacred heart to guide it is deviancy. Deviancy in the definition of warpedness of what is considered pure and natural within the realms of sexuality, economy, the family, and culture.
America has become the largest wholesale exporter of sexual deviancy and degeneracy specifically. Is there really a surprise why the Muslim world sees the United States as the Great Satan? Even in the days of the crusades when it was truly a religious war, the Muslims and Christians had a sort of respect for each other for being warriors and followed the chivalry code. However today, the West is no longer Christendom. It’s a secularized empire with its axiom being liberalism. It’s lost its identity and its ethnicities are quickly disintegrating as well, ready to be replaced by a quasi-religion called consumerism. In this system, our leaders are controlled by Mammon or worship it directly.
An example is the current leader of the United States. Voted by what’s left of the “Middle America Radicals” voting bloc and an energize populist sentiment, American president Donald Trump won the 2016 election on many surface-level paleo-conservative talking points. However, fast forward to 2020 and his administration has yet to address America’s illegal immigration problems or the fact that an average American can no longer buy a home due to the usurious economic environment and instead his cabinet’s singular focus has been the exportation of American degeneracy and consumer-culture around the world.
While we do not currently have a Moreno, Franco, St Louis, or Buchanan, we do still have the Church. The Church can produce more great leaders for our nations. Yet we the faithful must be willing to support them and help them get to the positions where they can wield the necessary political power. Catholics, therefore, must be united whenever the interests of the Church are at stake, even though they may differ on matters of secondary importance like the worship of free-market capitalism and conflating patriotism with the heresy of Americanism. By raising faithful and pious generations, we will sow our next leaders of our country, and we will increase the chances of producing not only saints but the Catholic leaders our country and the world desperately need. It is only a nation consecrated to the Sacred hearts of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary that will ever be able to fight back and win against the evils of modernism. So what can we do as Catholics to foster this kind the culture to create future Catholic leaders with that will put their nation’s interests under the kingship of Christ? We can start by going to Mass, praying the rosary, and being good Catholics within our sphere of influence. The clerical problems are not something the laity can directly fix or “do” something about. However, we as the laity are responsible for the next generation of Catholics that will fill the pews and that starts inside a traditional Catholic home.
